Board Chair - CGAPUCA

Prof. Meles Andom brings 25+ years of transformative leadership in higher education, driving CGAPUCA’s dual accreditation framework (DARC Africa and BIHEB/QAHE/BSQ). As a PhD holder in Educational Policy, he has spearheaded curriculum reforms, faculty development programs, and digital education initiatives across Africa. Under his tenure, CGAPUCA accredited 150+ institutions, elevating their global recognition. His research on quality assurance in underserved regions is published in international journals, reinforcing his expertise in bridging educational gaps.

A fierce advocate for education as a poverty-eradication tool, Prof. Andom has pioneered CGAPUCA’s outreach to marginalized communities since 2001. He established scholarship funds for low-income students and promoted gender-balanced enrollment in accredited institutions. His leadership in partnerships with NGOs and governments has expanded access to vocational and theological education in rural Africa. Recognized by the African Union for social innovation, he integrates grassroots needs into accreditation policies.

Prof. Andom’s legacy includes community-based learning hubs in Ethiopia and Tanzania, offering free accreditation workshops for small colleges. He launched “Education for All” campaigns, mobilizing local leaders to support school infrastructure projects. As a board member of UNESCO’s Education Commission, he advocates for refugee education. His initiatives have trained 5,000+ educators and supported 50+ rural schools to achieve provisional accreditation.

Professional Experience

Before chairing CGAPUCA, Prof. Andom served as Vice-Chancellor of a leading African university, where he implemented ISO-certified quality systems. He co-drafted the DARC Africa accreditation benchmarks and advised the QAHE Global Education Council on standardization. His strategic vision expanded CGAPUCA’s network to 30+ countries, with a focus on online education validation. Industry accolades include the 2023 BSQ Global Leadership Award for institutional transformation.
